Millwall boss Neil Harris has insisted that his side could be even higher in the League One table after their fightback victory over Shrewsbury on Saturday.

The Lions fell behind after just five minutes at the Den, but snatched two goals in just four minutes to turn the game on its head in the second half and eventually run out 3-1 winners.

The victory lifted Millwall up to a season-high 4th in the table, but Harris was adamant his team can climb even higher.

He said: “We could be better – we could be higher up in the division.

“We have risen to fourth and I talked about the team being on the up. That’s great and there are some big games to come, but if we can just concentrate on Coventry next week then we can see where the season takes us.”

Millwall conceded their first goal at home for almost two months when Larnell Cole was played through one-on-one with Jordan Archer and coolly put the visitors ahead.

The first 45 was one to forget for the Lions and they were subsequently booed off the pitch at half-time by the frustrated home supporters.

Millwall came back out from the dressing room reinvigorated, however, and Ben Thompson produced a wonder striker from 25-yards to bring the Lions level in the 57th minute, before captain Steve Morison completed the comeback with a powerful header just after the hour mark.

Lee Gregory rounded off the impressive performance with a composed finish from the spot after he was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Mark Halstead, who was duly dismissed for the challenge.

Millwall now have some real daylight between them and seventh-placed Barnsley with seven points separating the Lions from dropping out of a play-off spot.

Harris’ side were 11th in the table on December 26th after a run of three straight league defeats, but have shot up the table since then with just four defeats in 19 games.

The boss was delighted to see such a remarkable turnaround since Christmas.

“It’s easy for us because we have spent so much time just focusing on the next game,” he said.

“Of course we all look at the league table and who’s playing who, but for us as a group we just focus on the opposition next Saturday.”

The 38-year-old added: “From Monday we focus on Coventry. We have come from a long way back from the position we were in at Christmas.

“When you come from further back, sometimes it is quite easy to just be looking to get higher.

“I think if you hit the top and you fall away, it becomes very difficult. Come from behind like we have, it doesn’t make it easy, but it makes it easier.”
