Mahlon Romeo has signed a new long-term deal at Millwall.

The right-back, who completed a move to the Den last summer, has made an impressive impact for the Lions since making his senior debut against Walsall.

Romeo was understood to be a potential target for several Premier League clubs but the 20-year-old has committed his future to Millwall until June 2019.

He said: “Naturally I'm very pleased to secure my future at the club which has given me my chance in senior football.

“I'd like to thank the manager and his coaching staff for showing faith in me ever since I moved to Millwall last summer.

“It's been brilliant to be a part of the first team set-up in recent months. There is a great group of lads here and I'm really excited about the rest of this season and the long-term future.”

Boss Neil Harris said: “Mahlon has seized his chance in the first team with both hands and really deserves this new contract, which I'm delighted has now been signed.

“Going back to last summer I said that the club would be giving its younger players a chance to continue their progress into the first team and Mahlon is one of a group of bright, talented players who have impressed me, my coaching staff and, importantly, the fans.

“Mahlon is a hard working young professional and we're very pleased that he is the latest to commit his long-term future to Millwall.”
