Steve Morison has urged Millwall supporters to turn out in their numbers after praising the atmosphere generated at the Den during Millwall’s win over Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Lions sealed a 1-0 win through Chris Taylor’s second minute strike on his second debut for the club after Morison himself had squared the ball across the box.

The victory keeps Millwall fifth in League One as the race for the play-off places heats up.

“It’s nice when the supporters turn up in their numbers, it’s just a shame it’s taken until 10 games before the end of the season for it to start happening,” said Morison.

“But they were here today and you can see what a difference it makes. In the last 10 minutes they dragged us over the line and that’s what we needed.

“It happens everywhere, the more success you have the more people come through the door and you can see what a difference it makes when they’re here and behind you.

“It’s a nice feeling, it feels a bit like when I was here before now and it’s starting to build up again, we have been waiting for that all season and now it’s here hopefully they can drag us over the line in the next nine games.”

As well as assisting Taylor’s goal, Morison and strike partner Lee Gregory caused the Blades’ defence problems all afternoon and forced George Long into a string of saves.

Neil Harris was quick to praise his front pair afterwards and the shape of his team – something Morison also alluded to.

“We’ve got a shape which we want to stick to and teams have to break us down,” he said.

“It’s amazing, people think we set-up quite defensively but if you look at the amount of chances we actually have in a game, I think we do a bit of both.

“Unfortunately I’ve missed one when I should have scored, Gregory missed one and on another day they both go in and we win it a lot more comfortably.

“We scored early and sometimes it’s a bad thing scoring that early because you don’t know whether to stick or twist, to keep going or sit in.

“I think we did a bit of both today and we defended great through the boys at the back and Jordan [Archer], Ben [Thompson] and Jimmy [Abdou] worked their nuts off.

“It’s another win, that’s all that matters, we got the right result so we’re happy.”
