Millwall winger Jed Wallace says he does not care who is scoring as long as the Lions keep winning.

Wallace, on-loan from Wolves until April, has played a part in every game since his arrival in January and started in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Peterborough United.

The exciting 21-year-old scored 17 goals while at Portsmouth last season, but has yet to find his scoring touch at the Den.

However, despite admitting that scoring goals has been a theme throughout his career, Wallace insists he is not bothered by his drought in front of goal.

He said: “I just said to the boys, my goal record is gone.

“I was a one in three man before I came here and now I’ve just blown up, I can’t hit a barn door.

“When I signed for Millwall I thought I would be really bothered about not scoring, on a personal note, because that’s always been my game.

“But since I’ve come here I have just wanted to do well.

“At Portsmouth I was in a poor team for two years not winning. So to come here and be in a team that’s winning every week, I don’t really care who scores or assists.

“I am just really enjoying being in a winning team. It’s the first time really being in a team where there is a winning mentality.”

Wallace played the entire 90 minutes on Saturday and posed questions for the Peterborough defence throughout.

He set up Lee Gregory for the first chance of the game and it was his cross that Steve Morison was inches away from connecting with to seal a hat-trick.

After the game Neil Harris singled out Wallace, calling him an “excellent footballer” while urging him to continue working hard on the training ground.

Millwall have been in superb form since Christmas, winning seven of their 10 league games and climbing into a League One play-off position.

After a six-match unbeaten run, the Lions were comfortably beaten by Scunthorpe United last Tuesday night.

However, Wallace, a former England U19 player, believes the defeat to the Iron was merely a blip in the club’s quest to secure promotion to the Championship.

He said: “We’ve won four out of our last six in the league and drawn with Crewe.

“I’ll take that again for the next six games. We are going to lose games, of course we are, but there is still a long way to go in the season.

“I think teams are going to have blips and teams are going to have runs of form. But we want to stay in that top six now.”

Saturday’s victory saw the Lions climb to fifth in the table on 53 points – three points above Southend in seventh.
