At half-time last Saturday, fans at the Den were treated to a performance by the Ohio Northern University marching band.

According to the full-page spread in the programme, the ensemble from the States have entertained audiences across the globe.

I don't know if playing to a modest crowd in South Bermondsey will be the pinnacle of their marching career, but I'm sure there were a few who, like me, enjoyed it slightly more than the sub-standard Zorb racing usually served up.

I'm not sure what the Ohioan’s knowledge of League One football was prior to kick off, but had they foreseen what was to pan out, they could have done a lot worse than sit along the touchline playing the theme music from the Benny Hill Show.

MORE: Millwall ace chucked off training pitch for unusual reason

Colchester came into the fixture with the leakiest defence across all four divisions and did their utmost to maintain that by allowing a rampant Millwall to score four goals with consummate ease.

But for a couple of decent saves from 'keeper Jamie Jones and some wayward finishing, it could have been a lot worse for the Essex Boys.

Lee Gregory continued his good form with the opener, the industrious Shane Ferguson bagged a well-deserved brace and the ever improving Byron Webster hooked in the fourth meaning the visitors goal against column ticked over the 40 goal mark.

The only blot on the Lions' performance was their failure to keep a clean sheet.

A couple of quick asides from Saturday: firstly, it was REALLY cold.

I know it's winter but, to borrow a line from Del Boy in Only Fools, “Cold? There's a couple of brass monkeys out there crying their eyes out!”

Secondly, the unveiling of the Den's long awaited new ‘big’ screen was met with a few raised eyebrows.

I'm not sure who submitted the measurements to the manufacturers, but whoever it was clearly used centimetres rather than inches.

So, after a comfortable home win on Saturday, could the team do it again on a wet and windy Tuesday night in Fleetwood?

Well, as it turns out, no they couldn't.

I don't think any Millwall supporter could have begrudged the Cod Army’s 2-1 win, as the Lions put on an uncharacteristically poor show on their first ever visit to the Highbury Stadium – once home to England’s favourite son, Jamie Vardy.

Barring a looped Steve Morison header that hit the bar and an O'Brien volley in the second half, there was not much in the way of goalmouth action.

News Shopper:

The hosts dominated possession and chances - the evening best summed up when Fleetwood’s second went straight in direct from a corner.

Byron Webster did reduce the deficit, so I'm told (I had left at that point), but it wasn't enough to salvage a point.

The nine game unbeaten run was bound to come to an end sooner or later, so I don't think we can be too harsh on the players. A bad day at the office as they say… Saturday sees us back in action as the Den plays host to high-flying Bury – something I never thought I'd hear myself say.

Could this be the start of another winning streak? Let's hope so.
