Jordan Archer reiterated Millwall’s promotion ambitions after the Lions drew 0-0 to Bradford on Saturday, insisting that anything less than a play-off position would be considered unacceptable.

Since being beaten 5-3 by Peterborough at London Road, the Lions have enjoyed a consistent spell, winning four of their six games in all competitions.

Archer, 22, has only conceded two goals during the impressive run and claimed his seventh league clean sheet against the Bantams.

“The boys did well to get a clean sheet and it’s usually the goalkeeper who gets the credit but the other ten outfield players did well,” the stopper said.

“They didn’t have a shot on target and that’s a credit to all the boys.

“I’m pleased that the clean sheets are tallying up but I can’t take all the plaudits.”

Millwall currently sit in 7th position in League One and Archer insisted it would be a disaster if the club failed to secure a spot in the play-offs.

The former Charlton and Tottenham youth player said: “It was a hectic start to the season.

“We were conceding too many goals but as you’ve seen in recent weeks we’ve really worked hard on the training field and thankfully that’s starting to show.

“From day one we knew we had a squad, the infrastructure and the fans to get where we want to be at the end of the season.

“With the squad we’ve got anything less than the play-offs is unacceptable. Come May I’m sure we’ll be there or thereabouts.

“The boys are confident, it’s been a few games since we’ve suffered a loss.”

The first half at the Den was a drab affair with the two physical teams cancelling each other out, but the game opened up after the break and both sides were driven on by a raucous crowd.

“The fans were different class,” Archer said. “There were a few times today when they gave me goosebumps – it was the first time I’ve heard it full blown and it’s something I’ll remember.

“It was nice hearing the fans chant my name.

“You don’t get much of a better feeling when there’s thousands of fans signing your name, so it was something that I enjoyed.”

Despite replacing Republic of Ireland international David Forde as Millwall’s number one ‘keeper, Archer insists there is no antagonism between the pair and says the experience stopper has helped him improve his game.

“He’s been brilliant in training, before games and stuff like that,” said Archer. “He’s always in my ear complimenting but if he sees something I can work on he’s the first to tell me and he’s definitely helped improve my game – he’s been first class.”
