Joe Martin is adamant that Millwall will be fighting for promotion at the end of the season.

After a difficult start to life in League One, Neil Harris has guided the Lions to 8th in the table – level on points with a play-off spot.

Millwall have only lost one of their last seven league games and Martin, 26, is confident the club can maintain this impressive run and challenge for promotion come May.

“I’m sure we will be [fighting for promotion come May], we need to keep doing what we’re doing and not get complacent,” he said.

“There’s so much quality in the dressing room that some games are easier but we need to keep our foot on the pedal and the results will come.

“When I came in during pre-season and looked around at the players, I thought we would have a really good chance of going up.

“We have a lot of players with experience in the Championship so if we can keep everyone fit and healthy we’ll be there or thereabouts.

“There’s not too many places like Millwall and I’m really enjoying playing here at the minute – the atmosphere’s good.”

The former Gillingham star also insisted that the Millwall dressing room is a positive and united place.

Martin added: “I didn’t really expect to be a senior player, I’m only 26.

“But it’s a pretty good mix in the dressing room.

“We’ve got a few older guys – Fordey [David Forde], Steve Morison and Tony Craig, and the younger guys like Aiden O’Brien and Fred Onyedinma who are playing with a bit of freedom.

“It’s a good dressing room, there’s no bad eggs like you can get sometimes.

“We’ve got a good group of lads who are playing with confidence and momentum right now.

“There’s a lot of quality in the dressing room and it’s looking promising.”

Millwall, who have won four of their last five games in all competitions, will be looking to extend their fine run on Saturday when Bradford make the trip to the Den.
