Steve Morison believes the talent of Millwall’s young players is frightening and that the Lions are heading in the right direction.

Neil Harris’s side, who moved up to 13th in League One following the comfortable 2-0 win over Swindon on Saturday, has featured several young players this season.

And Morison, 32, is in awe of some of the less inexperienced players in Millwall’s dressing room, suggesting that they have huge futures ahead of them.

“We’ve got all different characters in the dressing room. You’ve got the young guys and us older players,” the forward said.

“Looking at the age of some of the players, it’s frightening to think how far they can go and how good they can be.

“I wish I was as good as them at that age.”

Morison endured a turbulent afternoon at The Den on Saturday afternoon, missing several chances to wrap up a more convincing win.

However, the former Leeds star combined well with strike partner Lee Gregory and received a standing ovation for his efforts when he was substituted in the second-half.

He added: “It was just one of those days, we won the game and it was another step in the right direction.

“We could have had five or fix but we set out to keep a clean sheet after conceding five last time out. Whether you score five, six or seven it’s still only three points.

“Obvious I’d liked to have scored from a personal point of view but the result was more important.

“We haven’t been winning at home so we’ll just take the win and keep climbing up the table.

“I feel like I’m playing well and you start to worry when you’re not getting chances.”

Morison is also adamant that Harris’s squad is on the way up and can continue to gradually climb up the table.

“We’re playing well as a team,” he said.

“We’re light on numbers after a few injuries to important players, but we seem to be doing well as a group.

“We played well today despite losing two of our best players so far this season.

“We feel like we’re going in the right direction – the league’s mental and as long as you can put a little run together you can climb up.”
