Neil Harris is confident Millwall will have a much improved home record next season regardless of which division they end up in.

The Lions have only won five games at The Den this campaign, with seven draws and 11 defeats.

Only Wigan and relegated Blackpool have worse home tallies but whoever is in charge next year, Harris believes the foundations are there to push on.

“It’s not whether we are relegated or not,” Harris said.

“At the moment it’s whatever happens, whatever league we are in next year, next year’s squad will be dominant at home.

“It will be young, hungry and athletic and it will play with Millwall spirit.

“I think it’s clear for everyone to see the home record isn’t as it should have been.

“It isn’t through lack of effort, everybody has had a right go - that’s going to be the starting point in the summer.”

While Harris is expecting a vastly improved Den record next season, the interim boss was quick to laud striker Lee Gregory after he scored his first professional hat-trick in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Derby.

He said: “Lee Gregory deserves those three goals, he’s an absolute top player.

“It will give him real belief and next year for us he will score 20 goals whatever league we are in.

“He’s scored two penalties today because he takes ten a day in training now.

“That’s what he has to do to be a top player and score goals regularly, he has to practice every day.”
