Millwall loanee Gary Taylor-Fletcher is hoping he can repay Ian Holloway’s faith in him by using his experience to keep the Lions in the Championship.

The former Blackpool player knows Holloway well from their time together at the seaside club and believes he showed glimpses of what he is capable of in Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

Taylor-Fletcher, along with Diego Frabbrini, was Millwall’s outstanding player and unfortunate not to score on his debut after hitting the side-netting in the first half and having a shot cleared off the line in the second.

Holloway kept his players behind for more than an hour after the game and despite having been at the club for just two days, the forward revealed his voice was heard in the changing rooms.

Taylor-Fletcher said: “I’m experienced and have played at every level.

“I’m not afraid to say what I think and I’ve had a bit of a say tonight.

“That’s one of the reasons he (Holloway) has brought me in, because he knows I’ll be honest and I’ve worked with him before.

“I know what he wants so I’m willing to do that in the changing room.

“We’ll come back in and get the positivity back.”

The Sheffield Wednesday result left Millwall three points behind this Saturday’s opponents and in the final relegation spot, although Taylor-Fletcher remains confident his new side can still beat the drop.

He said: “We’ll go out, enjoy training and work towards the Rotherham game.

“We’ve got 13 games left, 13 massive games.

“But as we’ve said before, we don’t need to win them all.

“We’re not going to win them all, we know that.

“But we just have to make sure that when we do lose a game or we don’t get what we deserve, it’s how we bounce back and how we respond.

“By the end of the 13 games I think we’ll be fine.

“As long as we keep doing what we did in that 60 minutes, and if we do concede a goal then we’ve got to get a bit of composure, get ourselves in the right shape, get sorted and not let them get that second goal.”

Despite having seen little action in the Premier League with Leicester this season, Taylor-Fletcher admitted he was pleased with how fit he felt during the Sheffield Wednesday game.

He explained: “I was surprised at how good and how fresh I felt today and I’ve got 90 minutes under my belt.

“I’m not surprised he (Holloway) left me on because I was feeling good.

“If I would have been blowing then I could understand but I didn’t feel as if I had no energy.

“I always felt I could get there or get a run and I’m glad to get the 90 minutes.”
