Millwall's recent upturn in fortunes came to a sudden halt when Huddersfield enjoyed a 3-1 triumph at The Den on Saturday.

Sean Scannell, a summer transfer target for the Lions, beat the offside trap to volley the Terriers in front on 17 minutes.

Millwall were back on terms through Stefan Maierhofer's ricochet 11 minutes later but the game was turned on its head by Nahki Well's controversial dismissal six minutes after the break.

Wells' second yellow card for an innocuous looking collision with Shaun Williams seemed to galvanise the visitors and they restored their advantage on 74 minutes when David Forde made a complete hash of Jacob Butterfield's long range drive.

And Chris Powell's side pulled further clear four minutes from the time following a challenge by Williams on Harry Bunn inside the box.

Former Everton striker James Vaughan sent Forde the wrong way from the spot, leaving the Lions in the relegation zone ahead of tomorrow evening's trip to Birmingham City.
