Paul Robinson has revealed a desire to secure his future inspired his transfer from Millwall to Portsmouth.

The defender, 33, has signed an 18-month deal at the League Two club after spending the first half of the season on loan there.

“It’s great to put pen to paper and secure my future here for the next 18 months,” Robinson told the club website.

“I was out of contract at Millwall over the summer anyway and every year there are more and more free agents available.

“So it’s nice to not have that uncertainty hanging over me. I can relax and concentrate on giving everything for Pompey.

“I’m looking forward to putting down some roots here and being part of something special with this club as we go from strength to strength.”

Robinson played 362 times for Millwall after coming through the club’s youth ranks.
