David Forde insists Millwall’s results will change if they continue to show the character they demonstrated during Brentford’s visit to The Den on Saturday.

Mark Warburton’s men took a 2-0 lead through an Andre Gray brace, but Millwall battled back and struck twice in two second half minutes through Lee Gregory and skipper Alan Dunne to level the scores.

However, Danny’s Shittu 66th minute own goal ensured the visitors made the short trip back to west London with three points, although Forde believes the character Millwall showed during the second half will stand the Lions in good stead.

“It’s very disappointing that we managed to lose the game after such a spirited comeback,” the keeper said.

“We weren’t fully at it in the first half and we went two behind, but we showed tremendous character.”

Not for the first time this season, Millwall looked like snatching something at The Den having seemingly looked dead and buried.

Forde added: “You’ve got to hand it to the lads, it was a hell of a comeback.

“It’s fantastic to see because we know we’re always in the game.

“We got back in the game at 2-2 and you’re thinking it could go either way – young Matthew Briggs put in a great cross and Lee Gregory made a great header which came off the post. If that goes in it’s a different game.

“But we weren’t as clinical as them today - we had some very, very good chances.”

Millwall conceded just three goals in October but Forde has let in eight during November already, a trend the Irishman knows must be reverted.

The 34-year-old said: “We can play anyone and score goals, it’s just keeping them out the other end which is our problem at the moment.

“There have been a lot of changes to the back four and that doesn’t particularly help.

“The lads that have come in have done well in previous games and we’ve kept clean sheets so it’s hard to put your finger on what’s going wrong.”

Ian Holloway’s side have now won just one game in their last 11, but Forde remains optimistic Millwall will soon hit form.

He said: “At times this season we’ve looked like a very good side. We’ve played some good football and probably the best style and the best brand since I’ve been at the club.

“We’ve often played well but we can’t seem to win the games or close it out, that’s the most frustrating thing.

“But once things click and things start going right we can go on a very good run.”
