Former Millwall player Bob Peeters has laughed off suggesstions his past as an ex-Lion will count against him in the eyes of some Charlton fans.

The new Valley boss spent two years at The Den as a player under Dennis Wise but his stay was overshadowed by injuries.

Now he is back in south-east London as the head coach of rivals Charlton but Peeters feels his Millwall past will soon be forgotten if he can lead the Addicks to a rare win obver their neighbours this season.

He said: “To be honest I didn’t play that much at Millwall, I was more in the hospital than on the pitch.

“That’s a long time ago but I only talk about the future.

“If we do a good job at Charlton I think the fans will forgive me.

“I’ve heard from a Charlton point of view that they never beat Millwall so if we manage to beat Millwall one time I think they will forgive me.

“That’s my past as a player. I think a lot of players played for different teams.

“They are a rival but now I’m very happy. I don’t think it is going to be a big problem.”
