Smith sets the pace
THE latest event in the Gravesend CC evening 10 series attracted riders from a number of regional clubs.
The fastest rider was former professional rider Reg Smith (DGB Kent) with a time of 22m32s.
In the club competition, only one second separated Paul Williams (23m31s) and Mark Davis (23m32s).
Other times were: Dave Stocker (San Fairy Ann) 24m44s (personal best); Carole Gandy (Kent Cycles) 25m13s; Lee Willard (VC Elan) 25m20s; Paul Hyde 25m42s; Keith Ward 25m48s; Chris Bramwell (Rye Wheelers) 26m09s (trike) and Mick Walker (VC Elan) 26m18s.
In the previous week's event, Williams and Davis were again closely matched with respective times of 23m39s and 24m32s.
The duo have established a clear lead in the competition.
Other times were: Richard Masters (Wigmore) 23.51; Mark Williams 25m10s; Willard (VC Elan) 26m12s; Ward 27m13s and Paul Mepham (VC Elan) 27m50s.
Bramwell and Eric Lejeune rode a tandem and were timed at 25m05s.
