Erith swimmers collect medals
ERITH and District Swimming Club were in action at the City of Rochester open meet on Saturday.
Most of Erith's swimmers obtained personal best times, while the team's finalists went on to win four golds, a silver and three bronzes.
Daniel Bassett was Erith's top swimmer of the day, winning two golds in the 50m backstroke and freestyle events.
Emma Coppen won the 100m butterfly and Rebecca Gravell did likewise in the 100m backstroke.
Alan Fordham won silver for his age group's 100m fly event as well as winning two bronzes in the 100m breaststroke and freestyle.
Sophie Gunns won bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Erith kickstarted their campaign in the Junior Speedo League on Sunday swimming against some of the biggest club's in Kent and Essex.
Individual wins were recorded by George Leigh, Chloe Hobbs, James Vick and Lewis Pick.
Final positions and points: First - Griffins 238; Second - Greenwich Borough Mariners 211; Third - Rochford 157; Fourth - Erith 155; Fifth - Canvey Island 129; Sixth- Hitchin 122.
