HAVE YOUR SAY: Reader Rant - anyone but England

I AM appalled that police pressure has been put upon retailers in Scotland to stop selling Anyone But England merchandise on the grounds that it might be considered racist.

It is certainly not racist to hope, as do I, that England is knocked out of the World Cup at the earliest possible opportunity.

This is the only way that our national broadcasters may be persuaded to stop showing this surfeit of sport and return to more interesting and uplifting schedules.

Is it racist to want anyone but England to win the World Cup or is it just political correctness gone mad to make a big deal over other nations' lack of support for 'our boys'? Why should Scottish people or Welsh or Irish be expected to get behind England? What's wrong with being anti-English? English people aren't a 'race' anyway, are they?
