Murray earns well deserved break after Wednesday double
GLENN Murray’s brace may well have earned him a couple of days off, according to a delighted Dougie Freedman.
Murray returned from a knee injury to score both of Palace’s goals on their way to their opening win of the season on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday at Selhurst Park.
Freedman said: “Glenn Murray was fantastic today.
“I feel very strongly for him because I was the one that brought him here and I fought very hard to get him.
“I threatened to keep him in all week if he didn’t perform and he certainly did today, he was fantastic.
“So he now knows how to get the couple of days off that he needs and he will be getting a couple next week because I thought his work rate today was incredible for the team.”
Murray was delighted to get back on the score-sheet and collect his first double for the club.
The striker said: “It was nice but it was more important to get the win today and the three points on the board.
“It was up in the air, I haven’t trained much this week but the manager made the decision to play me and I was obviously delighted with that decision.
“The delivery was there today which obviously makes my job to get on the end of them a lot easier.”
