MILE Jedinak was relieved to finally get a win for Crystal Palace in 2012 and admitted the performances they have been producing in recent weeks warranted a victory.

The Australian, who has firmly cemented his place in the holding midfield role, knew it was only a matter of time before the Eagles recorded their first win of the calendar year.

“I’m very relieved,” said Jedinak. “We’ve had some really good performances of late but haven’t been able to capitalise on some of our chances to finish the game off.

“We knew at 2-0 we had to keep the foot on the accelerator and we did that well and it paid off.

“It’s happened before where we haven’t been playing so well and we have got results, but when you are playing well and you aren't getting the results, it encourages you more. It was bound to turn around.

“When you are playing good football you are bound to win a game and today was that day.

“Hopefully now we can kick on from that.”

Jedinak was delighted for midfield partner Kagisho Dikagacoi to get on the score sheet and is hoping Saturday’s result can help in the push for a play-off spot.

He explained: “Full credit to KG for getting his goal, it was 100 per cent commitment from him again.

“We are enjoying our football at the moment.

“It has been really good and hopefully we can continue to push for the top six.

“I’m as hungry as ever to succeed and the boys all know what we want to achieve.

“We know we've got a lot of tough games to go but if we keep it positive and continue to play the way we’re playing then we are heading in the right direction.

“If we get there (top six) at the end of the day then fantastic, but if not then it’s a good thing to take into next season.”

Palace boss Dougie Freedman is a big fan of the 27-year-old, who was spotted by defensive coach and fellow Aussie Tony Popovic, and Jedinak admits he is adjusting well to English football. He added: “You are always going to have a little bit of time to adapt, I wouldn't say it's been difficult.

“It’s about getting up to speed with everything and knowing what the competition is about.

“I knew the Championship was going to be tough from day one and it hasn’t disappointed.

“You have always got to prepare yourself psychically and psychologically for the challenge ahead. “It doesn’t matter if you are playing top of the table or bottom of the table, it’s going to be a great battle.”
