DARTFORD boss Tony Burman was happy enough with a point and a clean sheet from last Saturday’s long trip north to Barrow.

The Darts were forced to make several changes after a hectic week produced some injuries but the incoming players impressed as the Princes Park outfit bounced back from last Tuesday’s shock 4-1 home defeat to AFC Telford with a steely display.

Burman told News Shopper: “It was certainly a long way to go for a game of football.

“Overall I feel it was a fair result and I’m pleased for the players because it came at the end of a tough week following games against Grimsby and Telford.

“Some people who haven’t been playing recently came in and I thought they did a good job in a difficult game.”

The draw leaves Dartford just one point and one place outside the final play-off place occupied by Forest Green Rovers, tomorrow’s opponents in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

This is the first time in a while Darts have entered the famous competition at this late stage, a reward for their new found status as a Conference Premier side.

Burman admits there are some benefits to that, but added it does have a down side as well in terms of finances.

He explained: “It will be a bit strange in many ways.

“The FA Cup generates huge interest among the fans and also provides a welcome source of income, something we have missed so far this year.

“Forest Green away from home is possibly one of the toughest draws we could have been handed but we will go there and just get on with it.

“We all know what is at stake ahead of Monday’s draw with the big boys and our away form this season has been very good, so there is certainly nothing to fear.”

And although the likes of Sheffield United and Kent rivals Gillingham could potentially await, Burman is concentrating on getting through first.

“We will only think about the draw if we are in it,” he added.
