Cray Wanderers completed a double over newly-promoted Wingate & Finchley with a good team performance that brought a thoroughly well-deserved 2-0 win.

Earlier in the season, Wingate had pushed Cray all the way at Hayes Lane until a dramatic late goal gave the Wands a 3-2 win, but it was a different story in Middlesex where the Cray defence shut the home side's prolific striker Leon Smith out of the game.

Danny Young gave Cray the lead on 21 minutes, and Tommy Whitnell netted from the penalty-spot on 59 minutes to secure three points for Cray and move them up one place to sixth in the table.

Cray: Walker, Long, Bentley, Day, Young (Dolby), Sterling, Whitnell, Perkins, Bremner, Phillips, Clark. Subs not used: Willy, Frey, Hall, Power.

Cray are at home to Margate on 27 December (3pm) and Concord Rangers on 31 December (12 noon).
