Cray to throw promotion party

CRAY Wanderers will be celebrating their promotion to the Ryman Premier League with an open-top bus tour through Bexley and Bromley next Saturday (May 23).

Simon Osborne’s winning goal in the 1-0 play-off final secured Cray’s place in the top flight and now the club plan to celebrate in style with their first ever parade.

The party begins at the Conservative Club on Oxford Road, Sidcup, at 11am and the bus will travel through St Mary Cray, St Paul’s Cray, Orpington, Chislehurst, Eltham, Blackfen and Bexley before returning to Sidcup at 6pm.

Chairman Gary Hillman explained: “It’s a great way to celebrate and to kick off our 150th birthday celebrations in 2010.

“As the club has been playing at Bromley FC for 10 years, it is important to remember our roots and to get the local Cray community involved.

“They can also, hopefully, look forward to our planned return to the Crays in 2014 at Sandy Lane in St Paul’s Cray.
