CHARLTON’S women’s team will be hoping to make it four wins on the bounce when they travel to lower league side Haringey Borough in the London Cup this Sunday.

And they will be motivated by memories of a cup upset last season when they were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur, who went on to win the competition, at the semi-final stage.

Captain Kim Dixson is keen to make sure that does not happen again and it looking to push on and put the Addicks’ name on the trophy this year.

She said: “One of my aims this year is to win some silverware because we haven’t won anything for a few years now.

“We let ourselves down in the London Cup last year, losing in the semi-final to Tottenham and that has haunted me for a whole season.”

The Addicks defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 5-2 in the League Cup last weekend despite, by their own admission, playing poorly.

A brace of penalties from Gemma Shepherd, two goals from Kit Graham and a Sinead Boyer volley saw Charlton home in relatively comfortable fashion against the 10-woman Seagulls.
