Defender boost for Deres

HIGHLY rated central defender Richie Davies has given Erith & Belvedere a huge lift by committing his future to the club for the 2012-13 campaign.

Davies, 18, was the subject of interest from several higher league clubs but has decided to stick with the Deres as they attempt to win the Kent League title next season.

The news delighted manager Micky Collins, who is predicting big things to come from his prize asset.

He said: “It’s a massive boost to the football club and signals our intent to challenge for honours next season.

“Richie is a talent who has a positive impact on the field and in the dressing room where he is a popular figure.

“There has been a great deal of interest in Richie from a number of prominent pro clubs and I believe it is only a matter of time before he gets his chance.”
