HEAVY rain ensured only two wet pitches were used for last weekend’s Gravesend League programme, although the conditions didn’t stop Stone C & I hammering Meopham 14-2 in the Premier Division.

Billy Kingwell led the way with five of Stone’s goal tally, followed by Gary Norman (3), Brent Howard (3), Adam Suat (2) and Luke Taylor.

Meopham never gave up the battle and Paul Winchester pulled it back to 8-1 with a cracking 20-yard strike into the bottom corner, while Gavin Wilson scored their second.

Dave Goodwin scored a fine second half hat-trick as Viewpoint returned to the top of the table after a 5-0 win over Millers Cottage.

Dominic Hewitt (2) got in on the act and all five goals were set up by man of the match Aaron Brown.

Scott McNamara gave Woodlands Athletic a shock lead at Lullingstone Castle.

However, the Lullies responded in style by hitting their opponents eight times without any further reply through Ryan Orpwood (3), Ben Short (2), Ross Lovett, Ian Hall and Steve Rogers to go second in the league with games in hand. In a Division One top-of-the-table battle, Fleetdown moved into second on goal difference following a 2-1 success at title rivals Earl Grey.

First half goals from Dan Dillon (Fleetdown) and Ben Jacomb (Earl Grey) saw both sides go in level at the interval.

However, it was Fleetdown who had the final say on a final pitch when Andy Hunter grabbed what proved to be the winner.

Peter Golden (2), Aaron Tuit and Matt Wanless lifted Bean to third after a 4-1 triumph over Culverstone United, for whom Damien Chandler scored.

Ash Green closed the gap on Division Two leaders AZ 82 after an emphatic 7-1 victory against their title rivals.

The winning side’s goals were shared by brothers Paul (4) and Rob Bradbury (3), with Geoff Harrington’s late first half effort a mere consolation for AZ 82.

A solitary strike from Steve Mann earned third-placed Kent Celts a narrow 1-0 success over Meopham Reserves.

Real Man of Kent demolished Fleetway Printers 6-0 thanks to Will Mullarkey (3), Lee Morson (2) and Nathan Deighton.

Oakfield also scored six goals when at home to Joydens Wood, although their opponents posted three in reply courtesy of Dan Radford (pen), Rob Ellis and Josh Brawn.

Scott Howsam helped himself to a first half treble for Oakfield and there were further goals from Ade McKay, Steve Walborn and Dan Moore in an entertaining clash.

Bottom side YMCA Dartford (Sat) went down 2-1 at the hands of Horton Kirby.

Neil Dougias gave Kirby a first half lead before YMCA levelled in the second half through Neil Piper.

However, it was Kirby who took the game with a second goal scored by Tom Dunmall.
