Big boost for Bromley FC youth section

BROMLEY FC have strengthened their youth set up by amalgamating teams from Barnet Wood (Youth) FC from next season.

Barnet Wood (Youth) was founded in 2001 by Dave Robinson, the current club secretary, and has teams from U9 level to adults playing in the Tandridge League.

Having rented pitches from Parkhouse Rugby Club in Hayes since the club’s launch, a new home needed to be found at the end of the current season.

But an existing relationship through teams training at Bromley FC paved the way for an exciting joint venture to evolve.

The existing Barnet Wood teams will play under the name of Bromley FC from the 2012/13 season.

And recruitment of both managers and players for additional teams in every age group from U7s to U18s by the new Bromley FC junior section is already underway.

Mr Robinson said: “Although sad to be seeing the name of Barnet Wood (Youth) FC disappear, this is a wonderfully exciting time for our club.

“Under our new name, we will continue to provide a fun, friendly and safe environment for boys and girls to learn to play football, no matter what their ability.

“But we’ll have the added benefit of facilities and expertise at Bromley FC.”

Bromley’s head of club development Jeff Hutton added: “Our aim to have teams from U7s upwards representing Bromley FC is about to be realised.

“The new junior section is a perfect addition to our current set-up.

“This includes football in the community, soccer schools, a youth section with u13s to u18s playing in the Kent Youth League, our academy and of course our first team.”
