BROMLEY will play either Weston-super-Mare or Worcester City at home in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The Lillywhites booked their place in Monday’s draw after Saturday’s 2-1 away success at Dover Athletic.

With four injured players returning, Bromley had a more purposeful look about them, but it was the home side who opened more strongly with Ben May forcing an early save from Joe Welch.

Jamie Smith shot wide for the hosts when well placed, while Marlon Patterson was denied by the Dover keeper Mitch Walker on 11 minutes when he tipped around a well-struck shot from the Bromley defender.

Mike Jones saw his long range effort comfortably saved by Walker before Elliott Buchanan was denied in the 24th minute when his goal-bound shot was cleared off the line by Shane Huke.

Buchanan was unlucky not to score three minutes later when collecting possession just past the halfway line.

He carried forward to unleash a fierce drive, which Walker only just managed to tip around at the foot of the post for a corner.

From Ali Fuseini’s delivery Moses Swaibu’s header was fumbled by Walker and although it looked to have crossed the line, Richard Pacquette thumped the loose ball home.

Just before the break Pierre Joseph-Dubois and Fuseini combined well, but the latter’s shot was deflected wide while at the other end May’s header was beaten away by Bromley’s keeper.

The game developed into an open affair after the break, with perhaps Dover enjoying the better of the possession.

But they failed to turn it to their advantage as substitute Ricky Modeste headed over from a Tom Wynter cross and Welch denied Smith with a fine save.

However, it was Bromley who increased their lead on 75 minutes.

A wayward clearance by Walker went straight to Fuseini, who promptly picked out substitute Tony Finn. Finn side stepped Steve Watt to sublimely curl an effort wide of the keeper with his first touch 40 seconds after replacing Joseph-Dubois.

It could have been three when Pacquette fired over but the home side reduced the arrears with seven minutes remaining as May converted from close range following a double save from Welch.

Dover’s captain Shane Huke missed a glorious chance to level the scores in the final minute when he found himself unmarked in the box but could only direct his header from a pinpoint cross from McMahon wide of the post.

Had he scored it would have been an injustice to Bromley, as they fully deserved to go forward to the next round of the competition.

The Lillywhites return to league action on Saturday at home to Welling, kick-off 3pm.
