Experienced players on the way to stop the rot
BROMLEY owner Jerry Dolke has told News Shopper big changes are on the way as the Hayes Lane club bid to pull clear of the Conference South relegation zone.
The Lillywhites haven’t won a league or cup game since a 2-1 FA Cup success at Dartford in late October, an unwanted sequence which was extended to 14 matches by Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Basingstoke.
Mr Dolke described that game as “the straw which broke the camel’s back” and promised supporters they won’t be disappointed by the calibre of signings on the way.
However, he also warned anxious fans they must back the team after some chose to boo during and after the Basingstoke display.
He said: “I’m upset with the booing because, I’m sorry, but I think the club has been in very good hands for the last 10 years.
“We’ve enjoyed promotions, won cups and had great FA Cup runs.
“While I am at the club we are going to do everything we can to avoid relegation because so much effort went into winning promotion into this division in 2007 and we aren’t just going to throw that away.
“Have I ever let this club down?
“No, I haven’t.
“Actions speak louder than words and people will see in the coming week with the experienced players we’ve got coming in just how serious we are.
“Basingstoke was the straw that broke the camel’s back as far as I’m concerned.”
And although unhappy with the boo-boys, Mr Dolke is urging the sceptics to get behind his team between now and the end of the season.
He explained: “We’ve got some massive home games coming up and I believe these are the matches which will go a long way to deciding our fate.
“It is essential supporters back us in those games because there is too much negativity around the place at the moment and it is having an impact.
“Of course people are entitled to their opinion, but the bottom line is the booing doesn’t help anyone.
“Our next home game is against Truro on January 21 and we need people there who are going to back us.”
