Goldberg delighted after Hampton win

BROMLEY boss Mark Goldberg was a happy man after seeing his side deliver one of their best displays of the season at Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday.

Second half goals from Phil Ruggles and Warren McBean earned a 2-0 victory, a result which puts the Lillywhites within two points of the play-offs.

Goldeberg said: “I was pleased with our performance on Saturday against Hampton & Richmond Borough especially in the second half where we took more control of the middle of the park.

“Our wide players did their defensive work and on the break we managed to get the wide men into play and the balance of Wes Daly and Salifou Ibrahima in the middle made a great partnership.

“We broke with pace and we kept very good possession and I thought in the end we created a number of good goalscoring opportunities and both goals were exceptional.

“So all in all, I'm very pleased with the three points and the performance.

“All testament to the squad because when you look at the bench, we have more strength and depth now.

“As long as we ensure the new additions to the squad gel with the existing core, then the rest of the season should be exciting.”

The Lillywhites travel to Havant & Waterlooville this evening for a league clash and Goldberg is in a positive mood looking forward to the match.

“I’m confident going into the game against Havant & Waterlooville that we go into this next period of games with new confidence and put out a side that is best fit for all types of scenarios, a situation we haven’t really had in the first half of the season,” the manager added.

Bromley are scheduled to entertain leaders Newport County at Hayes Lane on Saturday.

However, the fixture is dependent on the outcome of Tuesday night’s FA Trophy replay between the Welsh side and York City.

Goldberg added: “The Newport game may well come at the right time for us, after another week of preparation and having played Havant on Monday.

“Obviously the Newport County game on Saturday is dependent on their result in the Trophy, but we will be well prepared.”
