ELLIOTT Buchanan’s 86th minute winner secured three points for Bromley as they came from behind to beat Dorchester Town at Hayes Lane on Saturday.

Dorchester were on an unbeaten run of six games going into the clash and opened the scoring in the seventh minute.

Visiting keeper Benjamin Buchel launched a long clearance into the path of Ben Watson, who turned to shrug off Jack Holland before placing a low shot out of the reach of Joe Welch.

It might have been two within 60 seconds as Charlie Clough headed past the post after connecting with a low cross from the right.

Bromley, who were enjoying most of the possession, could not break through a robust defence and it was not until the 29th minute they had their first chance.

Ishmael Welsh went on a 50-yard run before passing inside to Louie Thephanous, who touched it onto Mike Jones and his shot was deflected wide off a defender.

Ali Fuseini’s delivery deflected off Nathan Walker straight into the midriff of Buchel before Pierre Joseph-Dubois curled a shot just wide on the stroke of half-time.

Bromley came out strongly for the second half and should have equalised within three minutes of the restart when Jones’ cross fell to Welsh who, with only the keeper to beat, shot tamely at Buchel from eight yards.

But the Lillywhites did not have to wait long for the equaliser, which arrived on 55 minutes.

Jones was brought down just outside the area and Fuseini’s quickly taken pinpoint free-kick was brilliantly headed home by Joseph-Dubois for his 16th goal of the season.

The game was held up for four minutes shortly afterwards when Dorchester’s keeper fell awkwardly on his leg after blocking Welsh’s effort.

Buchel took no further part in the game and was replaced between the posts by Jason Matthews for the final 26 minutes.

Bromley continued to press forward, but a well-marshalled defence held them at bay.

Indeed, the visitors might have regained their lead on 79 minutes when substitute Nick Crittenden’s cross was parried by Welch and Neil Martin blazed high and wide on the follow up with the home keeper out of his goal.

Just as it looked as if the game was going to end in a draw, Bromley scored the winning goal with four minutes remaining.

Sanchez Ming broke clear on the right before crossing to Joseph-Dubois, who helped the ball across goal for substitute Buchanan to slot home through a crowd of players past an unsighted Matthews.

Max Noble could have increased Bromley’s advantage in injury time, while at the other end Crittenden’s free-kick sailed high over the bar as Bromley held on to record their third league victory in the space of a week.

The result means the Lillywhites are now up to ninth in the table, 10 points above the drop zone and only eight away from the play-offs ahead of tomorrow evening’s trip to Sutton.
