KENNY Jackett has confirmed Darren Ward is the player Gillingham manager Martin Allen made a preliminary transfer enquiry about last week.

The Gills boss revealed on TalkSport he had spoken to Jackett about “some of his players”, although the Millwall manager this morning pointed out 33-year-old defender Ward was the one player in question.

“He made an enquiry about Darren Ward but I don’t think anything has come of it yet,” said Jackett.

“We will see. Whether he gets any games or not, I am quite happy with Darren Ward.

“When another club makes an enquiry they are the sort of questions you (as a reporter) ask but I am happy with Darren here.

“Nothing has come to fruition with that one but Martin Allen did make an enquiry.”
