MILLWALL manager Kenny Jacket appears resigned to the fact Harry Kane’s immediate future lies at White Hart Lane.

The 18-year-old striker formed a lethal partnership with Andy Keogh during a hugely successful loan spell at The Den in the second half of last season.

However, hopes the north London side might be prepared to allow the England U19 international to come back for another loan with the Lions were dashed last week when Tottenham technical director Tim Sherwood told newsatden.co.uk it wasn’t on the Premier League outfit’s agenda.

Sherwood suggested there was no benefit to Spurs of allowing one of their players to step down into the Championship for a second time and although Jackett didn’t completely rule out trying to persuade Tottenham otherwise, the Lions boss accepted the decision.

He said: “With any loan player you have to constantly review the situation and see how things are.

“It doesn’t necessarily surprise us because first and foremost Harry is a Spurs player, as I’ve always said.

“His development is geared towards getting into their first team.

“They have a new manager and he will be trying very hard to impress.

“We will keep our eye on the situation, as we will with plenty of others, and we are very thankful to Spurs for loaning him to us last season.”

Jackett also denied claims Millwall had lined up a bid for Wolves forward Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and added the imminent arrival of a new striker was not on the cards.

He said: “You are always mindful of having enough strikers but I’ve been pleased with the way ours have started.

“Shaun Batt has come back very well, as has John Marquis.

“Dany N’Guessan went to Charlton at the end of last season and got some goals, Darius Henderson is fit and we’ve got Andy Keogh, so my focus at the moment is on the people who are here.

“But during the course of the season when strikers are available and monitoring who is where, it is something you have to do all of the time and constantly to be able to do your job.

“Are we close to signing a striker right now? No, not necessarily.

“My focus is on the ones that we have.”
