HAMER Bouazza looks set to feature in Saturday’s Den meeting with Reading despite his public criticism of Millwall in a French newspaper.

The winger, who has been away with Algeria this week in Gambia, made some stinging criticisms of the Lions in the interview and added he expects to leave the club at the end of the campaign.

Bouazza’s remarks have not gone down well with Millwall’s supporters, some of whom feel he should never be allowed to play for the club again.

But despite the controversy, manager Kenny Jackett told News Shopper this morning the 27-year-old will be involved against the Royals.

“Yes, he will,” the Den chief said.

“I’ve got no issues or reasons why that should change other than the fact he has been halfway round the world this week, something which has got nothing to do with that interview.

“Looking at it this morning he was an unused substitute for Algeria, so I can’t see there being any problem.”

Jackett says he hasn’t had a chance to discuss the comments attributed to Bouazza with the player yet, but added it is performance levels alone the player will be judged on.

The Lions boss explained: “The situation with Hamer is that Hamer is very black and white – if he is in the team he is happy, if he is out of the team he wants to leave.

“That is where he is generally.

“He had been out of the team through an injury picked up in the Barnsley game and he didn’t get back in for a week or two.

“I did play him on Saturday against Burnley and I thought he played very well.

“He showed a very good attitude in training, as he always does, and played well.

“All he has to do is focus on keeping up that level of performance and everything will be OK, but as I said he is a very black and white person and there is no shade of grey.”

Jackett added: “What I would say about him though is he trains very well, he is a very fit lad and he always fights back in training very well.

“I haven’t spoken to him but I would estimate that interview was given before he got back into the team last week.

“I don’t know when because he has been away on international duty with Algeria in Gambia.

“It is not a good situation where players go public like that but we are where we are, he is our only naturally left-sided player and he is a player who when he is right is capable of playing in the Championship.

“But should he have necessarily done that interview? No.

“All he has to do now is concentrate on playing as well as he did on Saturday and everything will be fine.”
