SHAUN Batt is close to a return to action after missing last season through injury, says Millwall manager Kenny Jackett.

Batt impressed on loan from Peterborough in early 2010 while the Lions were in League One, so much so that he earned himself a permanent deal that summer.

But Jackett indicated the 24 year old will be gently re-introduced to training as of Monday with the hope that he'll pull on the blue shirt before 2011 is out.

He explained: "He'll train with us next week, which is good, and he'll need a few weeks' training to make sure the rest of his body adjusts and he doesn't pull anything else because he's been out a long time.

"He's done a lot of work and he's done a lot of physical fitness work so I think his body has a good base but he has to get used to playing football again.

"I'm confident he'll contribute this year. There's enough of the season and over the next few weeks we'll have to make sure he gets enough work in and we can see exactly where he is."

In other injury news, Jackett revealed his senior squad are now almost 100% fit, with the exceptions of Batt and Liam Trotter, now Paul Robinson has returned after an operation.

"Liam felt a quad injury last week," the boss said. "We're hopeful that by midweek, he'll be fit and training.

"Shaun Batt is our only other injury at the moment out of 21 senior players at the club."

He continued: "Paul's back a week earlier than we thought but the plan always was to get the knee operation he needed done and have him ready more or less by the start of the season.

"I'm hoping he's fit and ok and available for selection as he's done enough running work over the summer and around a week's football training so only games will get him there now."
