Jackett denies lame Robinson link again

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has scoffed at a newspaper story which claimed he may still sign Huddersfield striker Theo Robinson before the window closes on Monday.

The Lions boss made it clear after Tuesday’s win over Southend he didn’t expect to make any more additions to his play-off chasing squad.

However, this didn’t stop one publication wildly speculating yesterday afternoon a late swoop for Robinson could still be on the cards after suggesting Terriers boss Lee Clarke is now prepared to let the player leave, a story which left Jackett perplexed.

He told News Shopper this morning: “It is definitely not on our agenda.

“We’ve taken in Liam Trotter and Shaun Batt on loan in the last few weeks and they were our targets.

“You never know with the transfer window what can happen but it looks very unlikely there will be anybody else coming in now between now and Monday.”

The arrival of Batt put an end once and for all to Millwall’s hunt for a striker and Jackett says he is more than happy with his front line now, although there are still doubts about the fitness of Neil Harris after he missed the Shrimpers win.

“I would like Neil to get a bit fitter but that will happen because the groin injury has only held him back by a few days.

“We are in a situation now where hopefully we can get Neil back and that then increases our options in terms of players.”

The Lions chief also reiterated his view nobody was expected to leave The Den between now and 5pm on Monday.

He said: “I’ve got no sort of offers on the table.

“There is nobody imminently going and I’m not aware of anything, so again it would be very unlikely if there were to be people going before Monday.

“I can’t see anything on the horizon but as a football manager you never know because it is up to other people whether they call or put offers in.”
