CHRIS Powell has confirmed more players will be rested between now and the end of the campaign after Bradley Wright-Phillips’ omission for Tuesday’s draw with Bury.
Charlton’s top scorer wasn’t even named on the bench after manager Powell decided a complete break was called for with Leon Clarke starting and fellow striker Danny Haynes coming on as a substitute.
Powell refused to speculate whether Wright-Phillips would return against Rochdale on Saturday but did admit the displays of Clarke and Haynes had now posed a dilemma.
“All of my players are giving me something to think about,” the Valley boss said.
“I don’t get much sleep thinking about training, teams and selection.
“It is my job, that’s what I’ve got to do.
“I wanted Brad to have a well-earned rest. Since he has been at the club, which is just over a year now, he has played 47 games, 22 goals and he has been outstanding.
“Every now and then you do need a break and I think you will see the true value of us now.
“Players will be rested for whatever reason but he will come back really sharp and ready to play.
“We know Brad, he will score goals definitely.”
