PHIL Parkinson says Chris Dickson could still play a part in Charlton’s play-off bid after Gillingham announced this week they would not be taking the striker on next season.

Dickson joined the Gills on loan midway through this season after the Kent club had pursued him for over two years.

However, he failed to impress boss Mark Stimson during his stay and will return to SE7 on Monday, meaning he is available for the play-offs if needed.

Parkinson said: “Chris will be part of the Gillingham squad I should imagine at Wycombe on the last day of the season and then we will speak to him next week.

“You can never say never and it would be foolish to say Chris Dickson is definitely not going to figure because if we pick up a couple of injuries, Chris is capable of coming on at some stage and scoring a goal.

“He has got that in him, so I certainly wouldn’t rule that out.”

Dickson’s contract expires in the summer but Parkinson wouldn’t be drawn today on the player’s long-term future until he speaks about it with him face-to-face.

The Addicks chief also confirmed no negotiations would take place with any out of contract players until Charlton know for sure what division they will be competing in next season.

He said: “We’ve said that because of the situation at the club.

“We will sit down with the board at the end and see where we go from there.

“Hopefully it is all positive and we are looking to build as a Championship club.”

Parlinson also flatly denied media reports this week linking him with summer moves for Sheffield Wednesday striker Leon Clarke and Notts County defender Stephen Hunt.
