PHIL Parkinson is adamant Izale McLeod will not be forced back to The Valley, despite falling out with Peterborough.

McLeod was dropped from Posh’s first team for the defeat at Crystal Palace on Saturday and although Mark Cooper confirmed there had been a disagreement, he wasn’t prepared to elaborate.

Cooper was sacked shortly after the row became public but the news prompted fears McLeod could be about to make an unwanted return to SE7, although Parkinson was happy to put the record straight when asked by News Shopper.

“It isn’t going to happen,” he explained.

“Peterborough signed Izale until the end of the season and it is up to them how they deal with the problem they have with the player.

“It is an internal matter for Peterborough United and not Charlton.”

Parkinson drafted back Akpo Sodje for his second loan spell in SE7 earlier today from Sheffield Wednesday and the switch is set to be made permanent after the striker has made a certain number of appearances.

The boss said: “We are pleased because we’ve had an interest in him for a while now, as everyone knows.

“We needed a bit of power up front to compliment what we’ve already got and Akpo will provide that.

“He started well when he came off the bench here before and was getting up to speed before he returned to Sheffield Wednesday.

“Akpo played well against Swindon when we only had nine men and impressed at Brentford in the next game.

“He has also been coming off the bench regularly for Wednesday and is certainly well on the way to full fitness now.”

And Parkinson hinted there is still a chance there may be more comings and goings before the window slams shut at 5pm.

“There are one or two things ticking over as we speak,” he confirmed.

“I can’t say anything at the moment because nothing has been confirmed but there is still over an hour to go.”
