CHRIS Powell admits Tottenham striker Jonathan Obika is still some way off from a Valley return.
The Addicks chief’s attacking options remain limited as he struggles to add to his squad ahead of the new campaign.
With Yann Kermorgant the only senior striker on Charlton’s books, Powell is desperate to sign the right player to partner the Frenchman up front.
One player he is keen on bringing to SE7 is former loanee Obika from Spurs, but Powell isn’t expecting to conclude a deal for the 23-year-old anytime soon.
He explained: “Jon came with us last year and made a real impression and he’s someone I would love to add to the squad.
“I feel he would develop with us and get better, but of course he’s not our player.
“We have had discussions with Spurs but I think that will be ongoing sadly.
“I’d love it to be a quick deal but I don‘t think that’s something which will happen soon.”
