Powell coy on winger to Swindon reports

CHRIS Powell has refused to deny Danny Green is about to join League One Swindon Town on loan.

The winger has struggled to hold down a place in Charlton’s first team this season and hasn’t started a game since the 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich on Boxing Day.

Sources in Wiltshire this lunchtime broke the news Green was on his way to the County Ground, a suggestion Powell didn’t exactly downplay when asked by News Shopper at 2pm.

“Maybe,” the Valley chief said.

“He does need to get some game time.

“He has been involved in the 18 but he has been frustrated, which is understandable.

“I’ve always said to all of the players if it is right to do so (let them move), then I will do it as long as everyone is in agreement.

“There has been a bit of interest in Danny.

“We’ve still got until 11pm tonight but there is a real possibility he may go out on loan.”
