Pacquette winner books Fleetwood tie for Bromley (From News Shopper)

RICHARD Pacquette’s 90th minute winner against Worcester City on Saturday booked Bromley an FA Cup first round tie at League Two Fleetwood Town.

It is the fourth time in seven seasons the Hayes Lane side have reached this stage of the competition, but they had to work hard to get their name in the hat after playing the final quarter of an hour with 10-men after Moses Swaibu was sent off.

In a tight game it was the visitors who opened strongly as Tom Thorley fired a free-kick wide in the fifth minute following a foul by Ali Fuseini.

Home keeper Joe Welch then saved well from Greg Mills, who had skipped past two defenders to shoot from the edge of the area.

Bromley responded with Elliott Buchanan shooting wildly over before Worcester’s keeper Glyn Thompson did well to block with his legs Pacquette’s stabbed shot, after Mike Jones had jinked past three defenders.

Pacquette was twice unlucky when he turned on a Fuseini through ball to shoot just wide of the post and again one minute later by just failing to connect with a Sanchez Ming cross at the far post.

Ellis Deeney skied an attempt over the Bromley bar, while Buchanan should have made more of his chance at the other end.

Worcester had the last chance of the half when Danny Glover flanked a header wide from Tyler Weir’s floated cross but there was nothing to separate the two sides at the break.

Bromley opened the second period very much on top and created four reasonable early chances.

Buchanan won a tackle on the right before laying back into the path of Fuseini, whose first time volley from 25 yards skimmed the cbar with Thompson well beaten.

Pacquette nearly caught the keeper off his line with a snap-shot from 30 yards, which just fell the wrong side of the upright.

Buchanan might have done better with his header from 10 yards after Ming’s pinpoint cross had picked him out.

And on 55 minutes, Ming’s penetrating run and cross picked out Pierre Joseph-Dubois whose goal-bound shot was deflected away for a goal kick by Pacquette’s outstretched leg.

Worcester went close on 61 minutes when Glover’s shot ricocheted for a corner off Ming and from the resultant corner, Welch punched clear and Buchanan tidied up.

Bromley played the final 15 minutes with 10 men as Swaibu was shown a second yellow card for a trip on substitute Danny Edwards. Thorley’s resultant free-kick dipped wickedly over the bar, much to the relief of the home supporters.

As a consequence of the dismissal, Joseph-Dubois was sacrificed for Jerrome Sobers, who came on in the 77th minute to shore up the defence.

And it was the substitute who headed away from underneath the bar Tyler Weir’s dangerous looking cross just two minutes after his introduction.

Despite being a man short, Bromley might have done better with seven minutes remaining when Danny Waldren shot straight at Thompson and also as Ming blazed over from 10 yards after receiving the ball from Waldren.

With a replay looking more and more likely, Pacquette popped up in the 90th minute to score the all important goal when, unmarked at the far post, he slid home Fuseini’s angled cross across the six yard box.

With a generous five minutes of time added on, the visitors had two clear cut chances to level the scores.

Glover’s goal-bound effort was deflected off of Sobers for a corner and then substitute Michael Taylor was put through, but pulled his shot wide with only Welch to beat. This was to prove the last action of the match as Bromley secured another £12,500 in prize money.
