CRYSTAL Palace confirmed their status as the Championship’s comeback kings after once again overcoming a two-goal deficit with a 4-3 win over Burnley at a packed Selhurst Park.

It was the home side’s sixth victory in seven games and left the Eagles flying high in fourth position.

But once again, they did it the hard way and just as against Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Dougie Freedman’s side went behind after goals from Chris McCann and Martin Patterson stunned the Selhurst Park faithful.

Freedman didn’t panic and insists he never lost belief in his side’s ability to play their way back into the game.

His charges rewarded that faith, spearheaded by the pace and trickery of Wilfried Zaha, who netted a brace to draw the Eagles level before the turnaround was completed thanks to goals from Damien Delaney and Glen Murray.

The Palace boss said: “They scored two goals against the run of play, which I didn’t see coming to be perfectly honest, and we were put on the back foot but these things happen.

“I was confident we would come back and get the win because the way we play means we will always make opportunities.

“The spirit and quality that we have up top won us the game.

“I felt in the second half we upped the tempo and there was only going to be one winner and you need that in teams.

“It’s not all about fancy play, you need to stick together and have spirit in the team in the Championship and in a winning team, that’s what it is all about.”

The victory rounds up another fantastic week for the SE25 outfit which has seen them take three wins against strong opposition in Bolton, Wolves and Burnley.

And Freedman believes he now has the right ingredients for a successful side.

He explained: “I am very happy with the group of players we have and the work they have put in.

“It has been a tremendous week of work and we have put a lot of physical effort into these three games we have won.

“Those are the ingredients I believe you need in a dressing room and I believe we have started to show that in the last couple of years that not only can we win games, we can respond when we go a couple of goals down as well.

“I had to make a few difficult decisions in the summer but I feel that the freshness we bought in this summer have helped the team gain results and work better at the training ground.”
