CHARLTON ended the 43-game undefeated streak of Huddersfield in a 2-0 win at The Valley which extends their lead at the top of League One to seven points.

First half goals from Yann Kermorgant and Hogan Ephraim, the latter making his home debut and first start for the Addicks on loan from QPR, helped Charlton to record their seventh straight win in all competitions.

And although the Terriers pushed hard for a way back into the contest in the second half, hitting the woodwork twice, Kermorgant also hit the bar and superlative performances from each of the home side’s back four means the Addicks more than deserved their clean sheet.

Reds boss Chris Powell said: "This was just another win, that's what it is.

"We played a very good side, who made us work very hard, but this was just another win.

"This was our 19th game and we now have 46 points - I think everyone's happy with that."

Powell believes Charlton could now go on a lengthy unbeaten run of their own, building on their current streak of seven.

"I think we stayed in the game," he explained.

"They started off very, very well to be fair to them.

"But I think we were bright with the two goals we scored, especially the second one.

"We had to be dogged when we had to play and show good character. I am really happy that we got three points."
