Crawley Town 2-1 Ebbsfleet United

EBBSFLEET suffered defeat at Crawley on Saturday, with all three goals coming in the final 15 minutes.

Fleet were beaten for the first time on their travels in 2010 and were unable to capitalise on their relegation rivals’ slip ups as Gateshead and Eastbourne Borough both lost.

Danny Forrest knocked the ball on for Michael Malcolm to head past Lance Cronin from six yards to give Crawley the lead after 75 minutes.

Charlie Ademeno’s volley made it 2-0 on 86 minutes but Fleet set up a tense finale after Moses Ashikodi drilled an 89th minute free-kick past Paul Raynor.

However, Crawley held on to dent Ebbsfleet’s survival hopes, with Liam Daish’s side having only eight league games left to guarantee safety.

Daish was dealt another blow after right-back Dean Pooley was withdrawn after 40 minutes with a reported knee injury and the player now is doubtful for Luton’s visit to Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

The result means Fleet remain four points above the Blue Square Premier relegation zone in 18th place, although they have played considerably more games than their fellow strugglers.
