Three games between Welling United and Concord Rangers this season have ended in victories for the Wings.

They won 5-0 away in the league in September and 1-0 in the Trophy in November. They completed their third victory over the Beachboys at Park View Road with a come from behind win.

Striker Adam Coombes appears to enjoy playing against them too as he notched his second hat-trick of the season against them.

He had a shot saved in the opening minutes and then turned on Danny Waldren's through ball and fired just wide with Concord goalkeeper Barry Vose a spectator.

Against the run of play, the Beachboys went ahead. Danger man Jordan Chiedozie was given far too much time to collect a through ball and drill home a low shot from the edge of the area.

Rickie Hayles came close to levelling when heading Sam Hatton's delivery just wide.

Sam Collins had a free kick saved by Chris Lewington before Coombes levelled. It started when Hatton made a fine tackle in midfield before Welling worked it well to Oakley and when he burst into the area, he was sent crashing by a crude Tony Stokes tackle.

Although kept waiting by some futile Concord arguing, Coombes remained calm and sent Vose the wrong way.

Harry Crawford headed just wide as Welling came close to taking the lead

Lyle Della-Verde, who scored for Welling in the first meeting but who has since moved to Concord, had a shot saved by Lewington but otherwise rarely threatened.

Oakley had a header saved as Welling pressed late in the half.

Waldren had a long shot saved and Christian Nanetti had an effort blocked as Welling failed to get the breakthrough before the interval

It took just four second half minutes for that to change. Oakley picked out Coombes with a cross and the in-form striker gave Vose no chance with a firm header into the far corner.

Looking to build on their lead, Oakley fired just wide before Coombes had another effort deflected just past the post.

Once more, Oakley got beyond the Concord defence and pulled back for Crawford but his shot was deflected over.

Coombes then scored the goal that gave Welling some breathing space with a superb goal. He out-muscled one centre back, tricked his way around the other and curled home powerfully into the top corner.

He might have made it four but fired over after Vose had knocked out unconvincingly.

Vose did better soon after making a good save from Crawford.

As the game moved into the latter stages Welling continued to play football that was pleasing to the eye. Although they were unable to create any further clear cut chances, they saw the remaining time out in comfort.
