Cray suffered their first league defeat of the season as Dorking won the battle of the two Wanderers on a soggy afternoon.

In the first ever meeting between the two sides a lively first half saw Cray mostly in control and led through Jonte Smith’s penalty before the home side levelled through a deflected goal.  Dorking took the lead early in the second half and controlled the rest of the game.

Cray started the game well and Danny Haynes and Brandon Scott were both denied by home keeper Slavomir Huk.  However in the 20th minute, Cray went ahead following the award of a penalty when Smith was brought down by Huk and calmly got up to score from the spot.

Smith then hit the post for Cray before Dorking levelled in the 38th minute when Dan Evans shot was deflected past Cray keeper Jordan Beeny by Jay Leader although the goal was later credited to Evans.

The second half was a different story and Dorking went ahead in the 49th minute when Matt Briggs set up James McShane to score.

From here Dorking controlled the game and Cray were not able to play with the same fluency and comfortably won to move up to second in the table .  Cray remain eleventh in the Isthmian League South with nine points from six games.
