Yannick Bolasie has joined Premier League rivals Everton for a reported £25m and claimed it was a “no-brainer” to move from south London to Merseyside.

The 27-year-old was a second-half substitute in Crystal Palace’s 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom on Saturday in what proved to be his final appearance in the red and blue.

Bolasie has signed a five-year contract at Goodison Park and will go into the squad that travels to West Brom this weekend.

He told evertontv: “I’m looking forward to putting on the Everton shirt.

“This is a big club and I know all about it from having played against them over the years.”

He added: “It was a no-brainer to come here. But now that I’ve come to Everton, the job is not done. I’ve got to work hard and feel my way in. I’m ready and up for the challenge.

“It’s not about the money for me. It’s about looking at the ambition of the club and where they are trying to get to. I just like to play football.”

Bolasie was signed by Dougie Freedman for around £300,000 in the summer of 2012, and he went on to make more than 130 appearances, playing a key role in the Eagles’ promotion to the Premier League, and reaching the FA Cup final last season.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman said: "Yannick is a player who has been a long time on my radar because he's the type of winger I like - fast, strong and he can play different positions in the forward line. He's a really good signing for the club."
