Jordan Cousins looks set to leave Charlton with Russell Slade admitting “something is imminent” regarding his future.

Cousins has been heavily linked with Championship club QPR this week and the 22-year-old did not feature for Charlton in a pre-season friendly at Bromley on Tuesday.

Greenwich-born Cousins has made 125 league appearances for the Addicks and his absence at Hayes Lane was not down to injury or illness.

After the surprise 2-1 defeat to Bromley, Slade said: “There is interest in Jordan, there’s no doubt about that.

“It’s something that’s very close at this moment in time so it’s a little bit sensitive and a little bit delicate.

“We will just have to wait and see over the next 24 hours.”

When asked by News Shopper whether he was able to elaborate on Cousins’ future, Slade responded: “There’s interest and something is imminent but until it’s done I’d be rather foolish to start saying ‘he’s going here, there or somewhere else’.”

Academy graduate Cousins has been the subject of attention from several Championship clubs this summer.

The midfielder flourished towards the end of last season and was named the player of the year in May after bagging the same accolade in 2015.

Birmingham and Brighton both expressed an interest in Cousins but QPR have moved ahead of their rivals in the transfer race.
