Russell Slade says Tony Watt will be returning to Charlton for pre-season training along with the rest of his squad.
The Scottish striker is being tracked by a host of Championship clubs – including Blackburn, Birmingham and Nottingham Forest.
Watt, 22, was sent out on two loan spells last season after falling out of favour at SE7.
But Slade remained coy when asked whether he thinks Watt, who he worked with at Cardiff, will stay at Charlton.
The 55-year-old boss said: “He came to Cardiff and did particularly well for me.
“I believe he had an injury but he’s likely to be back in maybe three of four weeks.
“He’s a Charlton player so as it stands he’ll be back for pre-season training.”
Former Celtic and Standard Liege forward Watt scored three goals in three games at the start of the season, but only made one appearance for Charlton in 2016.
