New Crystal Palace signing Emmanuel Adebayor insists he has nothing to prove after he was released by Tottenham in September.
The Togo international’s contract at Spurs was terminated by mutual consent, although Mauricio Pochettino made it clear the forward was not in his plans.
At the start of the season Adebayor was not handed a squad number.
The 31-year-old former Arsenal and Manchester City man joined the Eagles last week with Alan Pardew’s side now without a win in seven league games.
Adebayor insists he signed for the South Londoners to help the team and would not be at the club if he felt he only had a personal point to make.
“I don’t have anything to prove,” he said. “I just want to play football and enjoy myself.
“Don’t get me wrong, I have been there and done it.
“If I had something to prove, trust me, I think I would be somewhere else.
“Me being here today I just want to play for this fantastic club, and the fans were amazing today so I just want to give my best for them.”
